Courtland Cox spent his childhood between the Bronx and Trinidad. His family valued education, and they sent him to Catholic School where he was the only student of color. When Cox left the Bronx for Howard University, he quickly started organizing with other students who would become prominent in SNCC, like Stokely Carmichael, Jean Wheeler, and Cleveland Sellers.
