Veronica Yue Zhao is from Beijing, China, and graduated from Duke with a Master’s degree in East Asian Studies in December 2015. She worked with Professor Carlos Rojas on her capstone, “‘I’m Moving to a New Home’: Madness, Nostalgia, and Urban Demolition in Contemporary Chinese Cinema.” She has always been fascinated by stories, and as a child her favorite thing to do in summer was reading a novel while enjoying sweet corns. With her continuing interest in translation, she has participated in several translation projects under Professor Rojas’s supervision. She currently interns at an education company in Raleigh which provides international students with cultural experiences and helps them succeed in American universities.
