Stefan Waldschmidt's work is currently focused on how we come to map our knowledge -- arrange our disciplines, describe the act of 'thinking' - -in a world where data collection and models of statistical induction have become (problematically?) portable between economics, sociology, physics, psychology, education... and on and on. In as much as literature tires to make this world narratable, so he feels that it is a particularly rich place to go to see what needs to be done to render such a world coherent. Current figures of interest: Robert Browning, George Eliot, Herbert Spencer, Charles Babbage, Karl Pearson, Jeremy Bentham.
