Deborah Jakubs is the Rita DiGiallonardo Holloway University Librarian and vice provost for library affairs. Prior to her appointment in 2005, she served as director of Collections Services, head of the International and Area Studies Department, and librarian for Latin America and Iberia at Duke. As visiting program officer at the Association of Research Libraries, she launched the Global Resources Program and directed it from 1996 until 2002.

Jakubs holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, a master’s of information and library science degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Latin American history from Stanford University. She is an adjunct associate professor of history at Duke.

Jakubs is president-elect of the Association of Research Libraries, and a founding member of the steering committee of the Program for Latin American Libraries and Archives.
