Rapso Music, Theater, and Masquerade in Trinidad

This talk focuses on the multiple artistic platforms employed by the group, 3canal, as they create spaces for the exploration of emancipatory expressions, histories, and futures. Dr. van Leeuwaarde Moonsammy considers parallels between the presentation of the idea of revolution in the productions of 3canal and th ewriting of the Trinidadian intellectual and activist, C.L.R. James. This is part of her book project Performing Revolution: Rapso Music and Postcolonial Politics of Liberation in Trinidad.
