Project Orfeo: A concert of words and music inspired by Richard Powers’ novel Orfeo

Sunday, September 25, 2016 - 4:00pm

Project Orfeo is a concert of words and music inspired by Richard Powers’ novel "Orfeo." The program includes Olivier Messiaen's epic Quartet for the End of Time, composed in a German prison camp during World War II, as well as a new piece by Duke faculty composer Scott Lindroth.  In between movements Powers will read excerpts from his novel.

The event is co-sponsored by Duke University's Department of Music and the Humanities Futures Initiative at the Franklin Humanities Institute.
