The Illiteracy of "Mass Incarceration": Racial Terror and the Insurgent Poetics of Evisceration

A talk by Dylan Rodríguez, a professor of Ethnic Studies at University of California. He will address the conditions of racial domestic policing and criminalization. His critique of the concept and rhetoric(s) of "mass incarceration" will argue that the term is a wrong and possibly useless and deceiving phrase that obscures or erases the genealogy of racial power that structures the regime.

The event is the first of a series organized by the Humanities Writ Large Emerging network Mass Incarceration and the Carceral State.
